Pantelleria ottiene cinque vele dal TCI e da LEGAMBIENTE
Summer 2020 has set sail full steam ahead in Pantelleria. Actually, to be exact, with five sails. That's what the Touring Club Italiano and Legambiente declared, awarding the title of the "most beautiful sea in Sicily" to the Black Pearl of the Mediterranean.
The Five Sails by Touring Club Italiano and Legambiente: what are they
The Five Sails is an award that the Touring Club Italiano has been giving for 20 years, along with Legambiente, after analyzing the quality of the Italian coasts, according to well-defined parameters such as territorial management and services offered. The criteria for assigning points - or sails - from one to five, are numerous and include eco-sustainability, consumption, waste management and land use, among others. Therefore, attention is not only given to the sea and the seabed, but also to the quality offered by each tourist area as a whole: proof of how organizing a holiday in Pantelleria is a wise choice, this year more than ever.
Why Pantelleria was awarded Five Sails
A territory where man and nature can live in perfect balance: proof of this are the terraces that gently slope down to the sea and the viti ad alberello (grapevines trained in the shape of trees), which are so precious that they have become a UNESCO World Heritage site; and again, the dammusi (typical dwellings), incredibly eco-sustainable constructions, or unique places such as the Mirror of Venus and the natural saunas, which reveal the volcanic origin of the island. A special alchemy that makes Pantelleria an island to discover in every corner, starting from its coasts and its crystal clear sea, up to the peak of Montagna Grande, recently declared a National Park.
A five-sails holiday
Thus, the five stars that have always characterized luxury holidays and stays, now become five sails: the real privilege today is to spend the summer in an uncontaminated place, in full harmony with nature. In other words, spending a holiday in Pantelleria, in the "most beautiful sea in Sicily".
